Downloadable PS2 games on PS3 Store, do we need them: Sony has no plans

sony has no plans for ps2 on ps3
Sony has squashed the thoughts of new plans for downloadable PS2 games on PS3 Store, well for now anyway, so it seems like Sony has no plans for this idea. During the big Sony press conference last week, it was announced that there was a new PlayStation movie store, which is all good but some of the screens on display were showing Playstation 2 games as being on the store, why they did this is not known, but Sony piped up with “that’s a mistake” or so to speak.

So this means at this point for now we have not made any announcements and there are no plans for PS2 downloadable game titles on the PS3, personally who wants PS2 games on the PS3 anyway since backwards compatibility is now done in the works. Ok there may be many of you who want to play PS2 classics, if you are one of those gamers, please let us know what you think of the above.

    The idea for downloading old skool PS2 games, would be cool for those folks that didn’t manage to get a PS3 with backwards compatibility.

    Renting downloadable movies in HD is one thing,
    But it would be awesome, if you could actually buy ‘em to keep, at a huge discount over the store prices ofcourse.

    Its likely that they plan to do it but have yet to actually make it work. Knowing them they put that on there for “hype” so that people would get all happy and go buy Ps3’s. Its not a bad idea but I already have backwards compatibility, what I need now is a disk resurfacing device.

    I know this sounds a bit random, but has anyone got Digital Devil Saga on PS2 and can get it running on a European 60gb BC PS3? I dunno if it’s because my disc is scratched or it just isn’t compatible on my PS3. Hmmmmm

    BTW I think that they shouldn’t be selling PS2 games on PSN because they took away BC from later SKUs so stuff them.

    They took the Emotion Engine out of the newer models because it didn’t seem to be a selling point and it was losing them money. Also new 160 GB model with no BC and 2 USB is coming out soon!

    @Joeymoto

    Hey man, I just tried it on my 60gb European PS3 and it didn’t work either. However I did try it on my Playstation 2 and it works fine. I think I can confirm you can only play it on a Playstation 2 console.
