Gamers should be aware that hackers have hit the Sony PS3 website, the US Sony PlayStation website pages has been compromised by these hackers according to a security firm. Sophos has said that these cyber-criminals have used SQL injection vulnerability to add unauthorised code to pages promoting PlayStation games such as God of War and SingStar Pop, which could be very bad indeed.

You should all know that the malware claims to undertake an antivirus scan which will then display a fake message which states that the visitor’s computer has now been infected. The visitor will then be urged to purchase a bogus security product, apparently this product will clean up the infection, and the security firm has warned that it would be trivial for these hackers who have compromised the web-pages to change the payload so that it can become more malicious. The hackers are clever because they can install some code that has been designed to harvest user’s confidential information, or indeed those innocent victims’ computers into botnet zombies.

We know for a fact that there are millions of gamers in the U.S alone and these gamers will visit the Sony PlayStation website on a regular basis to find out all about the latest news, most of the people visiting this website would indeed think that a site of high calibre would never get infected by such hackers, sites like Sony’s have taken harsh precautions to hardened hackers ever getting in, now and then it does happen though.

Sony has NO business trying to handle the OS and the software side of a console. They just don’t have the resources to be on top of it like MS is. . And for the hundreds of millions MS spends to prevent it, they STILL get hacked, so what gives Sony the brass balls to think that they can handle this themselves? They are in over their head.
