Sony PS3 Update 2.41: Sony PlayStation 3 Firmware expected Wednesday

Sony PS3 Update 2.41
The Sony PS3 Update 2.41 is expected to be available tomorrow (Wednesday 9th) which is great news for all you Playstation 3 fans.

This all new 2.41 update will hopefully sort out all those problems that we had with the 2.40, the 2.40 in many cases stopped out PS3’s working which was a major kick in the ass.

2.40 firmware was indeed short lived and the 2.40 firmware update for the PS3 allowed the in-game use of the XMB and of course provided what we thought to be “Great” support for trophies, you know PS3’s answer to Xbox 360 achievements.

However 2.40 was in fact withdrawn after problems after its release on July 2nd because of bricking some PS3 consoles. We must say though not ALL PS3 consoles were troubled by this update and no one knows exactly what the main cause was.

Now to all you PS3 Daily readers trust us when we say this, as soon as the Sony PS3 Update 2.41 firmware is available to download we say wait. Wait for peoples reactions on, many gamers will be downloaded this update and many of them will report if it is good or bad, once you read what they have to say then make your own decision if you wish to download or not.

So do you think that the all new Sony PS3 Update 2.41 will sort out all the 2.40 firmware problems?

UPDATE: Just to let everyone know the PS3 Update 2.41 is availble RIGHT NOW, we are downloading it as we speak. We will report back soon with news about it.

    i just downloaded version 2.41 and i haven’t even noticed adifference between this and version 2.40. When I downloaded version 2.40 i never had aproblem with anything

    we’ll huh you know whats funny?? Its just slow down the the ps3 noow i just updating to 2.41 to see it sppeeds up, oh there the updates is finsh hold on……much better it speeding up better. oh and the tropies is so sick..im luvin it look at you profiles in the in friends xmb..later all its a safe update so don’t be scare,go ahead

    mines works great the only thing thats missing is running xmb voice chats in the background while playing a game so i can have a 1 v 1 chat like the xbox real shame

    amazing, loving the trophies and the use f the xmb during the games it looks muck better. there is a date in the corner now

    Just updated to 2.41. My system is fine. My only gripe is that upscaling for SD content on Blu-Ray still isn’t supported (2.40 was supposed to finally support Blu-Ray upscaling of SD content).

    I downloaded it today. Nothing seems to have changed. I use to be able to watch videos on youtube with no problems. Now every time i watch a video it freezes up and I have to restart the system. This started happening on update 2.40. I still happens on update 2.41 too. I hope they fix this problem and soon.

    The update 2.41 seems to be working fine. But i would like to know how to gain trophies, and also when we will be able to listen to music whilst playing a game. Can anyone help???

    Ross,, You Can Only Get Trophies On Certain Games Atm Mate, Like You Have To Buy That Stardust HD One From The Shop For £4.99… And I Wana Know The Same Thing About The Music … ?

    From what I’ve heard (I have not downloaded 2.40 or 2.41 yet so I have not tested myself) is that if you press the PS button while playing a game, it will bring up the XMB. From there, navigate to the music folder and select the music you want to play. It will then take the place of the game’s music.

    OC,, It Doesnt Let You, Cause It Says This Content Cannot Be Accessed During Game Play, Or Something Like That. It Will Probally Work Within The Next Update.

    I have had horrible problems with 2.41. My system has froze playing multiple games that used to work fine. I am not convinced Sony fixed this problem…it’s complete crap. Download it at your peril!! If you can run on 2.36…and don’t need the new features….DON’T DO IT!!!!

    I downloaded 2.41 a week ago and now my ps3 doesn’t play games or read blu-ray disc’s. I have to send it back to sony. If I bought it over a year ago, I’d have to pay $150 to fix it. I suggest not doing any updates.

    I cant belive there charging you for that Tulley. Its there own fault for letting out a corrupt update. I’ve got a 60gb ps3 that i got the day of its release and i can no longer play online with the majority of my games. (Scine i downloaded update 2.41)

    I downloaded update 2.41 the otherday and haven’t had any prblems. However I do have a 60gig and I bought it the day they came out and I had 2 send it back 10 months later because it just stoped reading everything aparently it was a comman problem with them. Anyway sony sent me a brand new 1.

    Ok I’ve changed my mind DO NOT DOWNLOAD 2.41 my system keeps freezing for no reason no matter wat I’m doing even if I just leave it in start screen so I think I mite ring sony and find out wats going on let me know if you guys think I should.

    what does the new update include cause i cant see anything new to be honest, i think its update 2.42 but not sure. some one get back to me pleasee.

    I had to return my ps3 last week because firmware update 2.41 completely bricked my system. When I called to complain, they took no responsibility. I went online and found that since update 2.40, 2.41 and now 2.42 was released, People all over the world have had their ps3’s crash. In my opinion they are coming out with firmware updates to fast. How can they have enough time to test them. Apparantly, they don’t and now hundreds if not thousands of people are forced to send their ps3’s in for repairs. FYI if you’re out of warranty you’ll have to pay $149 AND with or without a warranty they will not send you back your origninal ps3,they will give you a refurb. I am so fed up with Sony. I have filed a complaint to the Better Buisness Bureau and suggest everyone do this or sony will never take resonsiblity and will contiune to charge people for repairs that their system update resulted in.
