Now it is amazing that many people are turning towards the Sony PS3 for some reason or another but for a former Microsoft Xbox 360 prototype worker turning towards the PS3 is exiting stuff.
I will not sit here and knock the Xbox 360 to the ground because it is not fair for 360 fanboys/girls, but for a former Xbox 360 prototype worker to turn his back on this console is a big kick in the teeth and clearly shows you what console is the most superior.
I am not going to judge, I will leave that up to you. Got to love what we found via product-reviews.net, this is what the former Xbox 360 prototype worker had to say:
The thing that jumps out at me, as I’ve noticed since launch, is that the PS3 costs much more than $400, $500, even $600 to produce, yet Sony still sells the console for less, and it’s all for the consumer.
I actually worked with Microsoft on the original Xbox 360 prototypes back in 2004, and, despite the accumulated cost of the hardware, Microsoft increased the price of retail sale above the production cost.
By the 360’s launch, I was a bit ashamed to see that the Xbox 360 was so expensive even though it was cheap to produce, and that’s when several other Microsoft devs in my group and I were surprised to see that the PS3 launched at only $600.
As a developer, I was really curious about each console’s hardware, and if we had put the Playstation 3’s hardware in our original Xbox 360 prototype, it would have cost well over $700.
The Playstation 3 consists of well over $750, but I’m amazed that Sony can sell the console for $400. In my opinion, that was a very smart move on Sony’s behalf.
Due to work terms, I’ve been prohibited from saying this until early 2008, but Microsoft severely rushed development of the 360, and we had a very short time window to work with in order to launch the 360 a year earlier. That was our, and Microsoft’s, biggest mistake.
As a result, the Xbox 360 has major hardware issues. I switched over to the PS3 when my Xbox 360, the console that I helped develop, RROD’d for the 4th time.
Please let us know what you think of the above, this is very interesting indeed, leave your comments below, thanks.

I blame you personally for the RROD. Thanks for the fail. Haha. Kidding. The 360 is able to produce equal graphics and better games for a cheaper price, it’s fine by me.
You’re aware of the PS2 Disk Read Errors right. Maybe, you want to switch to Nintendo next… traitor.

Wow…the people at sony are a bunch of altruists. Selling us a 750 dollar console for 400 bucks….brings tears to my eyes…..now i know i made the right decision.

What an amazing story! I remember back when PS3 first launched and people were bashing it’s price tag so much. Those people never realized that Sony was and still is giving the consumer an amazing deal. Now one year later and even workers for Xbox are making the switch and coming to their senses. PS3 is the dominant system and there is no doubt about it. In the long run Sony will always dominate against all competitors! Time is of the essence.

I call shenanigans on this article, it is common knowledge that at the launch of the 360 Microsoft did lose money on every console sold, its in their Q reports.

This guy still hasn’t revealed who he is and what role he had in the development of the 360. For all we know he could have mopped the floor clear of all the debris when the men were hard at work making the console.
This interview seems like it is fake.

Total crap article. At first it this article tries makes it sound like this guy is some big shot in the company, but by the end you can tell this guy is just some tester. And who cares if he switched sides. People up in the big companies have done it plenty of times. This is not news either. I dont think people are switching sides from xbox to ps3. More are probably xbox 360 owners , who are now buying PS3’s as well. Some people are religious 360 owners, some are religious PS3 owners, some buy both.
Yes its a smart move for Sony to sell the PS3 for way under cost. For one, they are using it as a tool to spread the Blu-Ray format. And second, they would be dead in the water if they sold if for $750. Microsoft is also smart for not dropping their price to quickly, as production costs have decreased , they now turn a $75 profit on every system. The Xbox division as a whole made a profit for the entire last year. Bottom line is turning a profit is pretty damn important.
Both Xbox and Playstation have their good points and bad points. If you can own both , then do it. If not, buy the one you prefer, enjoy it and don’t participate in any more of this stupid fanboy garbage like this article.

Oh Wow, Really? this is a true story?
Back it up, with some hard facts, anyone can pull the whole, “oh wow, PS3 is such a value package! and the Xbox 360 has problems, Microsoft knows that too!!!”
Jesus, This guy then goes on to call himself a developer, yeah? uh huh? a developer? good job buddy, taking a few words you know from video game business, then call yourself an educated Xbox 360 prototype worker, and all you can say is the Xbox 360 cost to much at launch? and that the PS3 is superior….because they don’t charge as much for the console?
I swear to god, so many articles get published by thirteen year old kids, who want to make the purchase of their PS3 legitimate. We all know, other than GTA4 and MGS4, PS3 doesn’t really have the games, or the online to compete, and even with Blu-ray, which is great, don’t get me wrong, the Ps3 still isn’t worth the cash.
I have an idea, next time you need to bash the 360, because you don’t have any good games to play on the PS3, just write it on your blog, no one wants to hear some fictional shiz you thought up on the spot make yourself feel all warm and fuzzy.

This guy is praising Sony for creating a system that they know they cant sell at a price to make profit? Gotta feel bad for the shareholders.
The fact that they sell at $400 is so people will buy them. Its a horrible business idea, losing $350 dollars on each console.
Its natural for a company thats trying to grow and make money to have a retail price at least 5-10% above production cost.
Aside from the fact they guy says he has gone through his 4th 360 now; this article makes no sense.

Yes please check your source you mentally defunct PS3 droids. Never a worst group of fanboys in the history of console gaming you dolts should be proud of yourselves. Everytime I think about buying a PS3 I think about the douchebag FUD spreading liars who play on it and it’s an instant NEVER.

16 Larry L // Jul 23, 2008 at 2:14 am
Mehar, you are absolutely wrong there. It’s in fact common knowledge that the 360 costs less to produce than the retail price. That’s been known, and I’ve been pointing it out since the 360 bandwagon started. And just a little follow up tid-bit to that. It’s the FIRST CONSOLE IN THE HISTORY OF HOME CONSOLES that ever cost less to produce than the retail price. That’s nevver happened before. And they purposely did that due to the fact that the original Xbox’s final cost was $4 BILLION dollars, and world wide it only ever made back $2 BILLION. So they tried making that money back with the 360, and in my opinion it has always showed.
The 360 was the only console I’ve ever owned, in over 20 years of console gaming, that I was disappointed with the purchase, and eventually I traded it in last Sept.
The sad part is, since the 360 obviously has a HUGE hype train behind it, if they waited to launch it for a year, it would have been FAR more reliable, and probably would have used a HD-DVD drive for games. So not only would it probably be the “legitimate” best console on the market, but HD-DVD had a high chance of winning that “format war”. Sticking with the DVD format for games will be the 360 ultimate failing….behind the hardware issues that is. The 1 in 3 failure rate is the REAL issue. And that’s NOT exagerated like that hype train would have you believe.
I fell for the hype too, but I wised up, and in the end, I made the right choice.

When the PS3 retails for $250 or less I’ll consider a purchase. Blueray is not enough of an incentive to purchase it. At this moment the PS3 selection of software is weak IMO to justify its price tag. I feel the same about the Xbox as well.
Cheers.

What a fucking douchebag made up piece of crap this story is. Its truly a sad state of affairs for my PS3 if a made up “letter” is newsworthy material.
Oh shame on MS for making a product to sell at a profit…tut tut tut, after all they are a business, and you know…businesses are there to make profit, arent they? Sony would have done exactly the same thing if they could have, but they chose Blu-Ray (which I have used at least once) and therefore an overpriced and uncompetitive product.
And whats all this crap about being unable to disclose information until “early 2008″ that everyone already knew way before that?!
The whole article smacks of some 13 year old fanboy bullshit trying to justify his overpriced dust magnet sat in the corner.
For the record I have a 360 and a PS3, and only now have I started to see some worthwhile games coming through for the PS3…but shit like this “news” only goes to discredit ANY PS3 owner and provifr bait for fanboyism.
But then I forgot this site is all about fanboyism, as every single article has a stab at the 360 in one way or another. Its not as if both systems have there good and bad points or anything….you know?
Should go for a site name change to “www.ps3fuckingfaggotfanboyism.co.uk”
Waste of my time.
