Epilepsy causes WipEout HD delay: We have simple solution!

Now the all new game WipEout HD has been delayed and according to CVG this is because of epilepsy testing failure. The futuristic racing game has been delayed because of the above technical problems says SCEE president David Reeves.

The game has bright flashing lights and is a pretty fast game to watch, the dazzling flashes as the ships shoot past at sub-light speeds is quite demanding on the brain especially for epilepsy sufferers.

The game is now going under more tests where they will be re-engineering the game so it is suitable, no one knows how long this fix will take but we will keep you posted.

Now on a personal note, taking all the dazzling fast and bright flashes out of the game would surely spoil the whole effect of WipEout HD.

I say they should have two games, one for non-sufferers of epilepsy and one for Epilepsy sufferers now that would be good.

Or to make things even simpler, those with epilepsy “Do Not Play the Game” get another game that is not too demanding on the brain, just a thought.

The re-engineered WipEout HD should be out later on in the year.

WOW! Is the first response I have… So by having two games u are eliminating the threat? What if someone with the ‘non-epileptic’ version had a friend over who has epilepsy. And that friend all of a sudden had a seizure because of the game? What then? Do we place blame on a sick person for watching a game unknowingly? NO! By your logic we as epileptics should not be part of society because we are ’sick’. I am a person too!!! Not some shell to be discarded and kicked by the police and society while im down!!!
Then I must say, you as an author are also NOT doing enough research!! If you were epileptic like me, you would know that ‘ONLY’ 2% of the epileptic population has this so called ‘video game disorder’. Please educate yourself past the point of just thinking everyone with epilepsy has this disorder… That is just NOT the case!!! I am continually amazed by what comes out of the mouths of supposedly ‘educated’ people!!!

who started that rumour and where?

Well, the chances of a friend having an epileptic friend over without the other knowing of the other’s disorder are slim. Besides, wouldn’t the epileptic be cautious anyway if the other person wanted to show him/her a videogame? I have asthma, so when someone offers me to follow him on a cold morning run, I decline. I don’t just say yes and hope I don’t have an attack. Your just looking for someone to bully. The article didn’t say anything about discarding epileptics from society, but you just assume that because…. Well, there’s the problem. You were just looking for a fight. There was no reason for it. The entire article didn’t even have the word “sick” in it, like you put in quotations. What’s your problem?

Why not add a filter button, epilepsy sufferers go for the off position.

All the dazzling effects are muted or are turned off, half the games visuals will be gone.

If its not true then its good advertising,

“Wipe Out HD, its so fast it makes you fit”.
