We have heard that the American developer of massively multiplayer online role-playing games Cryptic Studios are working on the all new Star Trek Online (MMO) for PC, the MMO based in the Star trek Universe may be loved by millions.
Before we talk about the game we just want to get something of our chest, ok we know it is coming to the PC but we also know it is coming to gaming consoles as well, but what console is a mystery. Could it be the Playstation 3 or indeed the Xbox 360, many are saying the 360.
About the Game: Star Trek Online will feature the awesome domes of Starfleet Academy plus ancient temples of Vulcan, mysterious Mutara Nebula, towers of Qo’noS, voids of deep space, Fire Caves of Bajor and much more, the game will be presented in stunning 3D graphics.
Cryptic Studios will reveal the first gameplay footage from Star Trek Online on Sunday, August 10, 2008, at the Official Star Trek® Convention in Las Vegas.
Check out the Official Star Trek Online website for more information. In Star Trek Online, you will get to command your very own starship as a Federation Captain or a Klingon Warrior. You will be able to outfit it with the systems that you need to make your mark in the galaxy and customize it as you see fit. Recruit, train and mold your crew into an elite force for exploration and combat.
Is Star Trek Online something you will like and will this game be coming to the PS3?

Personally, as an avid MMO player for over a decade now, I would probably get the PC version should I choose to timesink into this title.
MMO players historically played via PC, until FFXI came out. But compared to the giants, the playerbase for FFXI is small and Japan-centric, not an accurate sample, imo, of the global MMO market.
Most MMOs make their money via subscription, so the x360 would be the natural first choice, having so many more installed than the PS3. Being a multi-platform game, and the need for balance among performance in MMOs to keep the playing field level amongst the separate platforms, I wouldn’t anticipate enough of a performance difference to purchase for my PS3 (or x360 for that matter, if I had one).

I would think that PS3 would be the first in line for this title considering PSN is free. People likely won’t want to pay for XBL and then have to pay an additional monthly fee as well.

I agree with above dude…. Why would someone pay for the same service twice? That’s like your isp saying, yea we’ll connect you to the internet for free, but you have to pay an extra 14.95 a month to view webpages…. I know I wouldn’t pay for the same thing twice…. (Of course, I wouldn’t pay for anything with the Microsoft Name on it) Sony is way better for gaming!!!!!!!!!
