The Sony Playstation 3 80GB version is going on sale on Game.co.uk for £299; the date set for release is August 29th. We first heard about this release via product-reviews.net but thought we would leave for a while.
Well now you can pre-order the Sony Playstation 3 80GB from game.co.uk which comes with a DualShock 3 controller but does indeed lack in many areas such as doesn’t feature the memory stick card readers, backwards compatibility with PS2 games, Ethernet cable or SACD playback, it does NOT have 4 USB ports like the 40 GB, it only has two ports.
The Sony PS3 80GB has been announced by E3 that it will be released in the UK and here is the proof, but there is no word on European release.

the 40gb didnt have 4 usb ports, that was the 60gb

’s right, looking at the fact of the low price. but originally, the 80 gb ps3 version is the best version of all ps3s. if what he says is correct, then this 80 gb version is made personally fr uk and europe. now tell me, y would sony do so much hard work into releasing a different model specifically for a continent. they can make more profits if they sell the orginal 80 gb. so all i m saying is tht most probably this is the original 80 gb version and not a new model fr uk. but wait, there could be surprises….u never knw

i have to appologise to the person who wrote this article/. actually i just went to the game.co.uk website and the text published by sony confirmed tht this article is 100% accurate. i am dissapointed. well new uk ps3 buyers have no choice but to buy the 80 gb because the 40 gb version is being face out. how sad.

Hi mate, you have to put a £20 deposit down @ game and that secures it, probally 2 late now as it is being released tomorrow and not on the 29th, 1 week early. Getting mine tomorrow morning, also 160gb is on its way for £350, @ end of october - not really worth it as you can buy 250gb hdd for £50 and install it yourself.

Well these are now out and it look like Sony have managed stock of the old console well with almost no offers to clear old stocks. Best I have seen is £285 at amazon but even with this it’s worth the extra for the 80GB model.
