  I’ve had a rubbish afternoon at work but then you guys have put a big smile back on my face. Could not be happier about Home and will be great addition to an already good looking system just like the trophies a few months ago.

  I must admit that Home seems like a very ambitious project and I’m dying to try it out. Some of the features being promised really interest me, such as the virtual lobbies for multiplayer games, or watching videos with online buddies. Though customizing your environment is fitting for this type of offering, I just don’t see myself spending the time arranging furniture when I could be playing a game instead. After the novelty is over, I wonder if anything in Home will continue to draw me back in. I hope so, but Second Life got old for me very quickly. Maybe the PS3 community will make it all the better??

  im with riZe on this, we have been waiting so long for this now it better be good if they release a poop thing there are going to be a lot of dissapointed ps3 owners i was actually hoping it was going to be with update 2.50 but i was let down boo hoo im sure it will be as great as everyone expects.

  Here is one thing I have to say. I am indeed a Sony Fanboy and Xbox Live is not so hot. Can’t even remain stable with 18 player matches let alone the 40 player matches I play daily. Also most of the features that Live had that PSN didn’t have been added through patches. Home, is unrelated, its like saying Halo sucks because Birthday Cakes are better. Home is an internet feature but isn’t the actual service. Would be nice though, maybe I can talk to people without them calling my mom some horrid name. Given I guess having some one kill you 10 times in a row can get annoying…

  Also because its in my blood and you said it first…Xbox 360 Fanboys are pathetic. They always come back for a second go because the truth makes their blood boil.

  Obviously you don’t know too terribly much about programming my friend. They are trying to get a virtual reality simulator with great graphics to run real time across thousands of consoles with hundreds of customizable options. At the same time they are trying to make it completely lag free as well as allowing for complete operation of every released Play Station 3 title. This is extremely difficult for even if everything works all right it can take just as long to work a few small bugs out of the system as it did to initially design it. They also have to work on budgets, data size limits, and streaming limits. What may work for my internet might not work on yours. Once they get the kinks out they generally have to go back and work those extra horrid glitches that hide in the shadows out. Then after months or even years…sometime decades they will have a partially operational system. All it takes is one zero in the wrong place to mess the entire thing up.

  World Of Warcraft, Second Life, Guild Wars, Warhammer Online, all these work well, the only reason it lags is if the system isnt powerful enough or the connection is awful. PS3 is completely capable of running Home.

  Well every bit of information points to the 19th of Nov i realy do hope that sony pulls there fingers out as most of us ps3 users have waited and waited for the releace of some new titles and now the titles are starting to come quicker would be the final nail in the coffin for xbox360 as the ps3 is a powerful bit of kit i have already orderd my 500gb hard drive to install with that and the fact it now supports divx xvid avi and so much more it becomes more than just a games machine it becomes a HD multimedia system HD DVD wasnt that somthing xbox tryed to push and lost out to blu ray as i was a avid original xbox user who loved the old system and still does i knew of all the issues of 3 lights of death that keep on happening even on the elite version of the system why would you buy a 360 when the ps3 will now with the introduction of home be something more than just a games console.

  any how thats my 5cents worth.

  Lol Maniac-uk you can’t fit a 500gb hard drive in a ps3- they’re too big (size not capacity)! The biggest capacity hdd that will fit in a ps3 is 320gb- still muuuch better than the shitbox 360 though lol

  right have checked this out and i think your wrong the 320 is 7 cm x 10 cm x 9.5 mm and so is the 500gb 7 cm x 10 cm x 9.5 mm so it will fit did my research will post later on today but its the same size so i cannot see it being a issue. hopfuly im not wrong lol.

  500gb will fit as long as it is the 2.5 SATA hd. i asked the question a while back is 500gb the most you can add as i read there is a 700gb SATA but would ps3 be ok with that in it.?

  the ps3 uses fat32 which can cope up to 2tb the maximum drive avalible is a 500gb drive atm there is talk of the 750gb in the near furture but dont know when saw a site bosting about it but when i followed links it was for a 3.5 drive as far as im aware the ps3 will take any 2.5 sata drives as long as there 9.5mm in hight. should take delivery of my 500gb will report back my findings.

  i orderd a WD SCORPIO 2,5″ 500GB SATA 8MB 5400RPM for £95 +vat off insight.com they deal with big businesses and always look after me. been searching the web and im trying to find the artical i read but as long as the drive is a 2.5 sata and is the standard hight and dims 7 cm x 10 cm x 9.5 mm it will fit in the hd drive bay of the ps3 every one says the same thing about the screws stripping if its anything like taking out the hex screws of a xbox 360 witch are mega tight to fix the red lights of death issue and in fact having to drop the xbox360 from a hight to also help cure its issues i found most amusing when fixing my m8 box i should be ok as i have small machine screwdriver set.

  but apart from that seems a very basic operation to take your 60gb drive and back it up then slot a 500gb in and format then back every thing back via exsternal hd that you backed up to in the first place.

  will report on my findings later on if it turns uptoday did get a dispach note at 3am this morning but depends if that was lagged mail or its shipped today.

  i hremoved a hd on an old ps3 the screw is not that tight it is a str8 forward procedure which also wont void the warranty!

  the ps3 was designed as a open platform to run linux hence why it dont void you warrenty and if you strip your screws apparently sony will send you a new set out if you ring up there support department.

  WOOT mate your wrong my ps3 now has a 500GB hard drive installed and is just being restored to as long as its a sata 2.5 and its standard size as menchioned earlyer it will work.

  the hardest part was formating the 640gb drive i had to back to to fat32 found a nice prog called fat32formatter. that sorted out the format on my vista machine only took 10seconds to format 640gb drive.

  I am testing Home 1.0 right now, and all i can say that’s INCREDIBLE. Much more than i expected, very stable sith Hundreds of people in. very nice, i’ve spent some hours talking with friends and doing new ones around the world.
  It’s worth the wait for sure. I hope the final will be available until Xmas 08.

  guys, think about ps3 home releasing nov. 21 or 22th or 23rd. Compare that release date to a later time like December. If they take more time creating the game, think about how good its gonna be in a month or two. The more the time , the better it is. iIts like takin gtime on something to ake it HUGE!!   I have both 360 and ps3 and xbl is better online than the ps3 but I’m not knocking network cos it’s free and one day it well catch up.   M8, Xbox live has been recognized since the ps3 came out, as better than psn. but i can reassure you ps3 users psn is just as good as Xbox Live, because I was reading around and from November of this year, it has been said that there are now 14 million psn users which is the same as Xbox live users. not to mention the fact that psn is free, and btw this doesn’t include multiple accounts from the same console. So sony have finally done it, not to mention the 100gb blu ray disk thats coming, which will totally kick the 360’s ass. BTW I want HOME!

  im not having any probs, but you are not missing much yet becuase there just getting the servers correct with the amount of people that want to connect. so there are to good stuff to buy and there is only bowling and pool and they have the arcade but people are always on them so no one else gets a go.

  they might, but they will be just for show and you wont beable to drive them, the thing im really looking forward to is the trophy room.

  Apart from the bowling and draughts I can’t say i’m too impressed with this really.

  All the avatars look the same, around 20 years old - despite them being 12 or 50! And most of them are chasing the female avatars around, which is funny cause i’m sure some of them will be blokes. I also so someone run a mile when he discovered the girl he was flirting with was only 14!

  Plus, where is the access to my music, videos and games when in my personal space? Just a sofa and some tables.

  I think a cartoon approach, like Rare did for xbox, would have been better. A bit more fun.

  yes every one should get it, but if you havent got anouth free memory or your internet connection isnt strong anouth it prob wont appear ( i think). have you tried turning of your ps3 by the switch at the back and then turning it back on while it has auto connect to the internet.
