Sony PS3 will outsell the Xbox 360

November 11th, 2008 · 12 Comments

I know we are about PS3 but hey if we can write about the PS3’s rivals then we will and why not, good news for all us PS3 gamers is that the Sony PS3 is doing more sales than Xbox 360.

Oh here we go, we are going to see crying and all that going on just because we mentioned the Xbox 360. We get called fanboys and that is not what we are, we are just reporting the news how it is and to gaming consoles competing against each other is healthy for both parties, without this the gaming world would be weak.

Anyway we all know that Nintendo has released its figures for 2008 hardware sales in Europe and it shows that the PS3 is outselling the Xbox 360, yes Nintendo we know you are selling more than both of these.

This is how it looks in Europe, Nintendo Wii console sales = 10.4 million, the highest point for Nintendo was April 2008 and the Xbox 360 and PS3 was around 90,000 for the same month. It has been said overall PS3 sales will exceed those for Xbox 360. Xbox 360 sales in October reached 60,000 units.

It seems the PS3 will outsell the Xbox 360 despite its price cut.

There is no big surprise here.

Dispite the One year lead in EU, the over all sales between Xbox and PS3 are pretty much tied.

This means that the PS3 WILL outsell the Xbox.

here in the US most have xbox only because it was cheaper at the time and people dont educate them selves before buying a game console. Ps3 is priced higher for a reason!!! research what is in the ps3 compared to xbox and in about 2years you all will se how ps3 will be way ahead of the competition against xbox>>

“We get called fanboys and that is not what we are…”

Are you kidding me? Who wrote this article? Someone still in high school? Re-read your articles…you guys are generally nothing but fanboys. Ahem…ps3daily.co.uk.

I own neither system….PC all the way.

I can see why Xbox 360 is doing better overall in sales (consoles + plus games) due to prices and a better selection of games.

In Feb 2009, once we (U.S.) switch from analog to digital broadcasting, this will likely drive sales of HDTVs, which in turn will drive sales of PS3s since it can also serve as a Blu Ray player.

While its nice to hear about interesting topics like this, sales ‘n all.

How many times have you had to put ‘We get called fanboys and that is not what we are, we are just reporting the news how it is’ or something along those lines at the begining of an article? Now im all pro Playstation, but this article is realy licking Sonys balls. Sort it out, almost every article is like this now.

We have seen the spike from the 360s price cut. The 360s sales have already crested and are starting to drop. 2008 was a great year for Sony. In a matter of a short year they managed to tie there closest competitor (that had a year head start).

My prediction is 2009 will be the year Sony surpasses the 360s sales. Sony already has more exclusives in the pipeline for 2009. This will be when Sony makes another price cut also. Those two reasons will make 2009 the year to watch.

@fail station three… did you ever stop to think that this is because the 360 was out for over a year longer?…. No I didn’t think you did. Typical Xbot.

Again… pay attention to the following numbers:

    3 years: 360 sold 24 million consoles
    2 years: Ps3 sold 16 million consoles

8 million a year for EACH console.

Sony has the advantage of money for games + blu-rays (i’d be curious what the blue rays/unit for the PS3 is… to see if that makes up those 3 games differential… I’d say it would take 7 BRm’s to equal 3 games.. at my guess (24 per BR vs. 59 per game?).

Honestly, I don’t know if it would make up the difference or not, but it’d be interesting if those numbers were available.

It’s quite obvious that it will out sell the XBox 360 purely because of the fan base it has from the earlier Playstation Consoles. But I’m sure the Xbox 360 will pick back up next year!

Pretty lame article. Sounds like a fanboy rag, but if you wanna lick on sonys balls thats fine.
They look about even right now, cant really see either system really dominating the other in the market, at least not in the next couple years. Both have lots of great games, and they each have they’re own unique features. (Blu-ray player for PS3, and the Xbox as a media center extender, which I find none of these fanboys, xbot or sony lickers, seem to realize.)
