We all know that Internet Explorer and Firefox are the best for Web Browsing but we want to know “Is the Sony PlayStation 3 console the best for Web Browsing?

The world’s internet traffic hitting Sony consoles is 0.04% whereas the Nintendo Wii finished the year with a 0.01% market share. Now personally we use the PS3 quite often to use the internet which saves us starting up the PC or Laptop to check the latest news.

Obviously is the PC or laptop is already on then we will use that as it is much quicker, but we do use the PS3 to browse the web quite often. Please let us know the answer to this question - Is the Sony PlayStation 3 console the best for Web Browsing?

    not really. but i still use more than my pc. when i play cod4 5 hours in a row the eyes start to suffer and i just take a break wathing a few vids on youtube and checkin out new info on killzone 2.

    i love the ps3 browser, been using from day one, love using it for youtube,googlin,facebookin :D but main use it for watching divx movies streaming from website. and even downloading HD trailers from gametrailers to ps3 hard drive. what more do you need right? for free movies try this site guys from the ps3. http://www.http://stagevu.com/index and make sure you click download and it will stream, if you need to save it put mouse on download and save to hard drive. have fun :D

    Yeah use it alot watch porn (it works full screnn LOL) youtube pics and download stuff onto HDD

    using it all the time but is a pain now and again when I try to listen to something on Youtube and chech another site in the same time the music just stop, where I can use my mp3 on my HDD but when is on shuffle by about 1000 songs is hard to find your song quich to skip it or pause it… prefere Firefox but have to wait for some PC parts so my i can’t Use my PC for now anyway

    Yeh I use my ps3 for browsing alot to watch vids on youtube and check scores cuz i can’t be bothered to get off the sofa and use my pc

    Doesn’t work on hotmail other than that its pretty good…

    it’s the only console for web surfing :)

    i use my PSP while out too if i find a hotspot just to check up on some sites.

    It seems that watching clips or streaming is popular but cannot be really regarded as browsing. Try to surf to get insurance quotes, select drop downs, type in, click a lot, fil in forms, switch tabs and type emails (with wireless keyboard) and the PS3 browser shows it true colours. It is horrendous, clunky and slow . I have to revert to the PC. Unfortunately, it isn’t the All-in-ONE for the living roon I was hoping for.

    If talking about a device to access the web sites, then No.

    but

    Is the PS3 the best console for web browsing?
    then Yes, but then it’s only real competition is the WII, doubt you want to include the Dreamcast.

    The browser has limitations, but most of the time it is because the website creator is lame or lazy and not using WC3 complaint code.

    I mainly use it to read news, watch online vids and the iplayer.

    Hotmail not working, that does not surprise me, MS have could well have blocked the PS3 on purpose, they have done it to other platforms and devices in the passed!

    Previously they have blocked out access from any other browser than internet explorer as well as whole operating systems when they blocked out Linux users, although other browsers and Linux works now, that is only after much noise and legal proceedings, it was hotmail’s own detection scripts that blocked you out, not the fact that the software or hardware was not capable. But that is Microsoft for you, their reputation is well earned.

    If you really need to use the web fully on your PS3, or need a full PC desktop just put linux on it.

    It is easy, does not take long and best of all free, and that is free as in free!

    ummm… guys, the ps3 browser is worthless. it shows about 60% of websites out there, but not in their full version. most sites just dont work right on ps3 (its a VERY old version of internet explorer) bank sites, many e-mail and video sites DO NOT WORK. …i love ps3, and im glad it has browser BUT its ancient technology.
